Kata Masters

Kata Masters is a Super Leaders, master-led ability system for leaders who need to turn pressure, difference and uncertainty into a worthwhile outcome, a stronger relationship and more capable people. It is not a serial belt, rank or permission ladder. Leaders select the form that the live situation requires while building fluency across the whole system.

The Winning Formula

Winning = Self-Command × Shared Clarity × Adaptive Action × Multiplied Agency.

Self-Command helps a leader stay choiceful under pressure. Shared Clarity turns friction into a reality people can work with. Adaptive Action turns complexity into a useful experiment or next move. Multiplied Agency creates outcomes through capable other people.

A form at a glance: Coach for Ownership

Coach for Ownership uses Ask → Reflect → Contract. The leader asks rather than becoming the answer machine, reflects the pattern or learning that is emerging, then contracts a next action in the other person’s own language. The purpose is to leave the other person with judgement, commitment and agency.

Command Yourself

  • Read Your State: Scan → Name → Locate.
  • Choose Your Response: Stop → Breathe → Choose.
  • Read the Other Reality: Ask → Listen → Reflect.

The purpose is choice before reaction: noticing activation early enough to make a useful response and replace fast interpretation with information and connection.

Command the Conversation

  • Restore Trust: Acknowledge → Repair → Repeat.
  • Reset the Pattern: Pause → Name → Reframe.
  • Build Shared Meaning: Clarify → Check → Agree.

The purpose is shared reality before solution: making impact, patterns, meaning and intention workable together.

Command the Work

  • Create New Options: Notice → Reframe → Experiment.
  • Put the Problem on the Table: Define → Separate → Move.
  • Update the Map: State → Counter → Update.

The purpose is turning complexity into movement: making the work observable, separating people from the problem and committing to a testable next action.

Multiply Winning

  • Hold the Negotiation Space: Ask → Hold → Listen.
  • Centre the Goal, Flex the Route: Anchor → Accommodate → Converge.
  • Coach for Ownership: Ask → Reflect → Contract.

The purpose is creating outcomes through capable others: holding purpose while returning judgement, commitment and agency to the people doing the work.

Master-led practice cycle

The Kata Master makes a live pattern visible without blame, demonstrates the short form, invites a replay with one refinement, contracts a live-work experiment and draws out evidence at review. The Kata Master is a guide, pattern-maker and holder of purpose, not the permanent source of answers.

12-week executive rhythm

A typical executive rollout uses a 90-minute weekly kata lab, 25–30 minutes of peer-triad practice, one live-work experiment per executive each week and a short evidence capture. Week 12 uses 120 minutes for the integrated capstone. The weekly sequence gives deliberate attention to all twelve forms while leaders remain free to choose any form the situation needs.

Evidence that matters

Assess observable practice rather than attendance or theory recall. Review effects on outcome, relationship and agency. A form may move from unseen, to prompted, to deliberate and then generative use under pressure. Keep the evidence connected to real strategic, customer, risk, talent or delivery work rather than using it as a compliance score.
